Family Date Night

The weekend before our 7 year anniversary, I tried to find a babysitter so J and I could have a date night to celebrate 7 years. I had no luck. So instead of not going, we invited C to go with us.

I like that J and C are color coordinated!

Loves her daddy! Notice the nails!

We ate some Mexican food and it was so good! We had so much fun on our family date night. Before we went out, I did C's and my nails and put a little blush on her. It was so much fun. We can't wait to do it again!

It's Like Where's Waldo?

One afternoon while C was suppose to be napping she calls me up to her room. This is what I was greeted with. Where's Waldo, I mean C?

It looks like the monkey is saying, "Here I am."

Best Friends Forever

C loves to tell me all the time that Jake is her best friend. She loves him so much and he is so wonderful with her. The picture below is on Jake's birthday which was on August 6th. He turned 7. C told me I had to take a picture of her with her best friend on his birthday!

Two peas in a pod.

It looks like he is smiling.

Naps are more fun when taken with a friend.

No I really didn't let her take a nap on the kitchen floor. But it was a cute photo op.

I love this picture. She had just eaten an M&M and I told her her tongue was blue. For some reason that just cracked her up.

Proof that M&M's do melt in your mouth and not in your hand. (Does she have a Gene Simmons tongue or what?!)

I love how much C loves Jake, and I love how much he loves her back. She always gives him a good night kiss, asks where he is when she wakes up in the morning. She loves to make him play games with her such as hide and seek and tickle monster. She loves to feed him treats and share her snacks with him (but only if I am not paying attention). She loves to take pictures with him. She loves to throw his ball and then chase him around the yard. And Jake is an angel with her. He lets her climb on him, try to ride him, take his bone out of his mouth and even brush him. I love the friendship they share. I hope they will be best friends for a long time.

7 Years

7 years ago, at this very moment, I was peeking out from behind this bush. I was very nervous and anxious as I watched the garden at Cheekwood fill up with our family and friends. I was about to take the biggest step of my life...down the aisle!

It looks like Jeremy and I are paying attention to what the minister is saying. All I could think about was how hot it was (think Nashville, outside, in August!) and hoping Jeremy or I would not pass out.

First dance as Mr and Mrs. Our sweet friend and singer/songwriter, Lane Turner sang to us.

So happy. We just got married and now it was time to eat cake!

Happy 7 year anniversary to us. Jeremy you are a wonderful husband. You are sweet, loyal and handsome among other things. I look forward to becoming your old woman, with the white hair, driving you crazy! I love the way you love me. Keep it up! And always remember I love you MORE!!!

Big Girl At The Pool

I am hoping that this video is clear enough to see. C has come a LONG way since the beginning of the summer. At that time she did not like the water, she had to being wearing her floaties all the time and she would not go under water. Now look at her. Going down the big kid slide, with no floaties. She will also now blow bubbles, put her head under the water and jump off the side. We are so proud of her. I think she gained a lot of confidence during her swim lessons this summer. We plan to resume them in the fall. I have more pool videos that I will post later this week.

4 Mins. in Chandler's Mind

A post from Daddy...

Click here for a glimpse into the mind of a little girl who just turned 3! Joy was at the mall, and Chandler asked me if she could tell me a story while I made dinner. She proceeded to tell me a great story about her and me riding a bicycle to see a fairy princess in the woods. I asked her if she could tell me another one for me to capture her little mind at work on camera. It worked! In case you think it is a little (OK, a lot) weird that she is talking about witches, locking people in castles, and a fictitious characters named Silly Gilly Gumbo.... It comes from her friends Dora and Mickey's TV shows.

Enjoy!

Let's Go To The Movies

On Tuesday C and I took advantage of $1 days and went to the movies. This was C's very first time at a movie theater. We went and saw Toy Story 3. She was so excited to be going to a real movie.

Not bad for a self portrait. And C is almost smiling!

So excited to have her own popcorn. Both popcorn and drinks were only $1 each. Great deal!

C did wonderful during the movie. There were only about 10 people in the whole theater and half were kids. She sat on my lap for some of it, sat in her own chair for some of it and stood for some of it. The movie was pretty long for a kids movie--almost 2 hours. So she got pretty restless towards the end. But she was perfect for a 3 year old. I thought the movie was very good. It did have some scary parts in it but most went over C's head. And the ending even made me cry! This was after the movie was over and the lights came on. As you can tell she didn't want to leave.

All in all we had a wonderful time and can't wait to do it again!

Slumber Party

I said it one time before, that I don't care where or how C naps as long as she still takes them! Lately she has been playing with her "friends" during nap time. I guess this day they were tired and everyone had to take a nap.

Love it!

Weekly Catch Up

We have had a lot of fun this summer. With the weather being so nice and not too hot we have taken advantage of spending lots of time outside. On Monday, C went to Maryn's house to swim, bounce and play. C has come far with the trampoline. At the beginning of the summer she would have nothing to do with the trampoline. Now you can't get her out of it!

C loves our Ipad. She even named one of her dolls IPad! She loves to play games on it and watch movies too. This day I caught her watching a Mickey Mouse episode in Spanish. And today she watched one in French.

We have a movie room downstairs in the basement. We have spent a few Fridays evenings down there having our own private movie nights. This of course was before we turned the lights off.

Eating take out and getting ready to watch Toy Story 2.

We have also taken advantage of the splash pad in our neighborhood. It is so close to our house you can see it from our front porch. I love, love, love that it is right down the street.

A beautiful day to play in the water with a friend.

C and Maryn trying to steer the boat. They were each telling Michelle and I that the other one was not sharing.

I can't believe it is already August and our summer is coming to an end. But we still have some big plans before C starts preschool in September!

Hide & Seek

C's favorite new game is Hide & Seek. She likes to play it every day, especially in the evenings. Though she hasn't quite mastered the skill of NOT telling us where she will hide.

Also she thinks if she can't see us, we can't see her.

And yes, I just noticed how badly I need to dust the wine rack behind her!
We take turns hiding. And where ever J or I hide on our turn she will hide there when it is her turn. J and I have to make a big deal of trying to find her. She giggles and says "I'm right here!". We try to tell her to be quiet. But she just giggles & giggles.

Mother's Little Helper

This morning my neighbor's 11 year old daughter, Ana, came over to be my helper for 2 hours. Her job was to play with C while I cleaned my house. I got them snacks and then banished them to the basement. They watched a Veggie Tales show, danced and then did a bit of coloring. Afterwards Ana played house with C and they took turns cooking food for each other.

Before Ana left she came upstairs and read 2 books to C. C doesn't look excited here but she was so happy that a big girl was playing with her.

Happy girls.

While the girls had fun, I was productive. I was able to vacuum the whole house, clean all the bathrooms, tubs, showers, mop all the floors, clean the windows, clean the kitchen and tackle some laundry. All that is left on my list is to dust. I happily paid Ana $8 when she left. I wanted to pay her more but that is all that her mother would allow. Ana is coming back over next week too. I am sad that I did not think of this sooner though, as school starts back up soon.

Swimming with Ms. Betty

Group swim lessons were going well, that we decided to up the ante and do private lessons with the same teacher. We will get to have 3 , 30 minute lessons with Ms. Betty.

She's ready to get in the pool.

Sorry C, you have to wait a few more minutes.

C and Ms. Betty kick, kick, kicking!

I couldn't believe that C floated on her back for Ms. Betty! Every time that J and I try to do that with her she freaks out.

Practicing kicking on her back with a weight. I was hiding behind some poles so C wouldn't see me.

Ms. Betty told me that C did great at her lesson. I was very proud that C listened to the teacher and did what was asked of her.

To celebrate C being such a good girl during her lesson I took her to Target where she got to have some popcorn and juice. I have decided that when these 2 lessons are done we will continue with private lessons in the fall and winter. So hopefully come next spring we will have a real swimmer on our hands.
