Field Trip Fun

Last Friday all the kindergartners got to go on the year end field trip.  C had been sick the day before and stayed home from school so she was VERY excited to be able to go.

I went as a chaperone and had 2 others girls besides C in my care. I thought the field trip would be more formal. But the teachers pretty much just let us loose with our kids group and we met back at a certain time.  My friend Amber and I kept our groups together.

Hot, tired girls speaking no evil.

The girls that we had the pleasure of touring the zoo with.  All these girls are very sweet. And 2 of C's best friends were in this group. Sofia in the pink shorts and Emari in the purple shirt.  We lucked out with the weather too. The high was only in the 80's and there was a constant breeze. If it had been today we would all be dying as the temps will hit over 100* today!

Sick For Too Long

About 3 weeks ago I was getting out of the shower after my morning run and the phone rang. I saw caller ID and it said Mesa Public Schools. I knew that wasn't a good thing.  It was the school nurse who told me C said her stomach was hurting and she was running a high fever. I went to school and picked her up. I am thankful we live so close as I was dressed and at the school 5 minutes later.

It was Tuesday. We got home about 11:30 and she immediately went to nap on the couch.

Jake knew something was wrong with C and didn't leave her side for the next 4 days.

Where ever she was he was.

Poor girl ran a fever, had stomachaches and throwing up for 3 straight days. One morning she woke up around 5 am. I got up to take a shower and when i got out 10 minutes later, I found this. She had rocked herself back to sleep. She slept like that for 3 hours until her dr appt.

C had been complaining for 3 days how much her stomach hurt. I called the doctor and talked to the nurse. Based on C's medical history they wanted to check her out.

Pathetic girl.

Turns out she had nothing serious wrong. Just a bad case of a stomach bug.

She hadn't eaten in almost 3 full days. I went through Starbucks for a drink and she said she wanted a cookie. Even though it cost me over $2 I happily bought it for her.

And when we finally got home my friend Janie called and said she was dropping something off for C to eat. C was ecstatic to see the ice cream and ate some.  I didn't care that she was eating cookies and ice cream. I was just happy she was eating anything!

By Friday C was feeling better but we still kept her home. Jeremy and I thought we had managed to escape the bug, but sadly we both came down with it the following Tuesday. It was not fun. We were both sick until Thursday. I spent all Friday morning cleaning trying to get the house germ free!  And catching up on errands I had neglected for 2 weeks.

The Principal & Popsicles

Our girl has been working hard reading all year. We track them in 15 minute increments.  Her 1st goal was 90 hours so she could get her name in the school paper.  Mrs. Wienke submitted it but we still haven't seem it. Her next goal was treats with the principal at 120 hours!

Principal Kaczmarek had so many Popsicles that all the kids had 2 and 3 Popsicles. They were really excited.

This other little girl Abbey is in C's class and has also read 120 hours. There was only 1 other Kindergartner there. These girls are so smart. We just finished 130 hours yesterday. Her next goal is 150 hours so she can get a book dedication at the school library. We will see if she can accomplish that in the last 3 weeks of school. Wish us luck!

Primary Play Day

At the beginning of April C had Primary Play Day (aka field day) at her school. It was only for Kinders and 1st graders.  We had beautiful weather. C and one of her favorite friends Emari.

C has this nervous habit of chewing her hair and pulling on the neck of her shirts. I can't tell you how many times this day and every day I tell her to STOP!

On your mark, get set...

Go!
C is good at many things. But running is not one of them. So I was surprised she was holding her own against the tallest girl in her class.

There were about 10 different obstacle stations. The hula hooping was by far her favorite station. She loves it and can do it all day and night. They played 2 rounds and she won 1 of them.

In lots of the challenges and relays they played boys against girls. And I am proud to say the girls won each time. They were celebrating their final win!  They were so excited.

Mrs. Wiekne's gang. All the kids LOVE her. And I have to admit I do too!

An Important Message

I didn't intend to go this long with out a blog post. But we are having some issues with our computer. I have somehow accidentally erased all the pictures that were on it. And also I am not able to download the pictures from my phone to my computer.  Very frustrating!! I am hoping to get it fixed in the next day or so.  We have had a lot of things going on since my last post.  Just to name a few: C had field day at school, our girl is still reading up a storm, summer has arrived to AZ, fun play dates with friends, sickness hits our house and Jeremy broke his knee!! So check back in a few days and hopefully our picture issue will be resolved! And we will be back in business.

Easter Weekend

We had a fun and busy Easter weekend. We let C have a spring party/play-date.  She invited 4 friends over for dinner and fun.  Their parents all got to drop them off and hopefully they did something fun.

C waited not so patiently all day. And finally it was time for her friends to arrive!

Group picture before the Easter egg hunt.

I tried to put them in strange places.

I hid 50 eggs so I told each girl to count their eggs as they found them and when they got to 10 to go sit down.

Even though I am positive I hid 50 eggs we could only find 49. We looked for 2 days but never did find that last egg!

Jeremy drew this bunny and then C colored it and wrote Happy Easter.  We played pin the tail on the bunny. The girls loved it and played over and over. The winner got to take the poster home.
We also played guess how many jelly beans in the jar and winner took them home too. They girls made small Easter purses and ate dinner/cupcakes and then played and played.

Emari drew this picture and I thought it was so cute. It is all the girls at the party. And each girl is holding her pet.  So cute.  By the time all the kids had left and we got C settled into bed it was after 8:30 and we were exhausted.  But a fun time was had by all.

But then we had to get ready for a visit from the Easter bunny.

C got new pool toys, a Barbie movie, some pajamas with matching ones for Cupcake and of course a chocolate pink bunny.  She was very happy with her basket.

She found her 5 silly eggs out back.

We were planning on C and I heading to church.  Jeremy had hurt his leg (more on that later) and was going to stay home. But I had a session with a trainer on Friday morning at my new gym and he worked me out so hard i could barely move for 3 days. I was so sore. I felt like I had been run over by a truck! So we ended up not going. Our friends Amber, Ron and Sofia came over for Easter lunch. It was casual and yummy. But I forgot to take pictures.

Of course C and Cupcake had to wear their new matching pajamas to bed that night.  Such cuties.
