Happy Halloween

We had an absolute fabulous Halloween this year. C is old enough to really be into all the dressing up and trick or treating.  We met up with some friends in our neighborhood.  M, C, K and P.  All 4 were the in same preschool class last year and M and K live in our neighborhood.  

So many parents were taking pictures it was hard to get them all to look in the same direction. But at least everyone is smiling.  Also you will notice a few wearing jackets. But not our hot-blooded girl!  She was born for this type of weather.

Again racing to the next house. We were constantly calling out "no running!"  But they didn't really listen to us. I can't say I blame them as they were running for free candy!

We did about 2 blocks and then came back home to give out candy.  After a bit, Daddy and C headed to see some friends on the next street.  I was in charge of the door.  I went to answer it and saw this guy and about screamed.  After I gave him a candy bar he was kind enough to pose for a picture.  I am still not sure if that was a dad or a teenager.  

C was a super helper this year giving out candy. Last year she would give each kid handfuls. This year she listened and gave each kid 1 piece. She loved saying Happy Halloween and your welcome to all the trick or treaters. We don't let her eat much candy in general, but tonight she got to eat 3 pieces and thought she was in heaven.  Jeremy and I both enjoyed Halloween this year.  I love seeing our girl so excited about the simple things.  

Chandler's Halloween Party

At the beginning of October when we first started asking C what she wanted to be for Halloween, she began asking me if she could have a party. She wanted to have a Halloween costume party and invite all her friends. I told she could have 1 and could invite some girls from her preschool.  We were originally going to invite 6 girls, but then learned Daddy would not be in town to help, so I let her have 3 friends come.

She has lots of costumes to choose from but she picked a pirate for her party. The morning of her party she was so excited.  She helped me decorate and then bake cupcakes. She asked me every few minutes "how much longer until her party?" 

C, M and P.  K was also invited but had not arrived yet.

C looks so short compared to her friends. But M turned 5 in Sept and P turns 5 in Nov.  So maybe she is not too short after all.

I told the moms they could drop their girls off or stay and hang out with me. None of them stayed but i was happy to let them have some time to themselves.

We played pin the pumpkin on the witch's bottom, played pirates in the backyard, did a spider hat craft and then had a treat.  All the girls were so well behaved.  They were all very polite and played nicely together. It might have had something to do with they were all in the same class last year.

Finally we went downstairs and blew up the bounce house. They all had so much fun.  I let all the girls have a turn on it by themselves. They loved it.  I think they all jumped and bounced until they were dripping with sweat!  

After all her friends left, C told me how much fun she had. Then she gave me a huge hug and said thank you.  Made me feel so good to know she had fun and was so thankful to me. And i enjoyed doing something so easy that made my girl so happy.

Practicing For Halloween

Today was a super fun day. C got to attend 2 Halloween events. The first one was a Halloween party at the library. There were stories, songs, a parade and snacks.  I dressed her as a pumpkin. 

She wore this same costume when we first moved here in October 2009.

She was only 2.  My sweet baby.

We got to the library early and got to take advantage of the photo opp before anyone else was there. She kept trying to hug the scarecrow. That is my sweet, loving girl.

After the parade she wanted to play ghost bowling. She had gotten hot and taken off the pumpkin dress, but she still looked cute in her tights.

This evening was the family Halloween party for my mom's group.  C had a costume change and went as Super Girl. Daddy told her to fly in this picture!  She is so creative and smart!

About 120 people attended the party.  The desserts are always the favorite in my book.  Some the moms were so creative with their treats.

After the parade, the kids got to play some different games. This was C's favorite, the mummy wrap.  I love her smile.  The little boy is also a C.  He told his mom yesterday that he wants to marry our C.  Jeremy said the boy C better come talk to him first.!!

We have a few more Halloween festivities before the real day on Monday.  She is sure to be an expert costume wearer and trick or treater by then!

Last Weekend

On Friday night we were suppose to have some friends come over. The dads were going to brew beer and the moms and kids were to play. But Friday afternoon I started feeling yucky so we canceled and just had a night at home.  After dinner and baths, we told C that we were going to have movie night on the big screen in the basement. Think she was excited?!! She was our ticket taker before we could go downstairs.  

Everything she needs to watch the movie....Daddy, friends and 2 big bowls of popcorn.

We watched "Harry and The Hendersons".  I thought it was a good pick.  And C loved it as well. She did ask a million questions but sat still through all of it. We let her stay up until after 9pm watching it. She thought she was some hot stuff!

On Saturday morning C went to a class at the Children's Discovery Museum.  I got to drop her off for 1.5 hrs.  They had a great time. They sang songs, heard stories, made pumpkin pie play doh, made a pumpkin craft and painted a baby pumpkin.  On Sunday we finally made our first trip to the pumpkin patch. Past years by this time we have already been a few times.  But it seems like we have just been busier this year. We got there and immediately C and Daddy headed to bounce.  When they we done bouncing Jeremy had a mishap.  He hurt his pinkie. The tip of his finger was hanging at an awkward angle.  We thought it was broken so we told C we had to leave to take Daddy to the ER.  She was so upset and cried and cried. Luckily we got our $$ back and headed to the dr for Jeremy. He was diagnosed with ripping his tendons from the bone and a possible broken pinkie bone. The pinkie is in a splint for 4-6 weeks with a possible surgery down the road.  

After Jeremy was done at the ER we headed to Sonic for a late lunch. The weather was beautiful so we took advantage and had lunch outside.

C was so good the rest of the day and we felt so bad about making her leave the pumpkin patch after 5 minutes that we even let her watch a movie at the dinner table that night.

We did get to return to the pumpkin patch the next day, even though Daddy was not with us.  And she was one happy camper.

Bloggers Block

I have not been doing a very good job updating the blog.  I seem to have developed bloggers block, which is similar to writers block. No motivation to write. Nothing interesting to write about.  But I am making myself sit down and do this update. I will try to do a better job, as I know all the grandparents love it.  And I do think it will be pretty cool for C to be able to look back on this years from now and read all about herself.

 I can hardly believe how big C is getting before my very eyes. It seems like it was just yesterday that she was a toddler!  Now she is in her last year of preschool!!  She is getting so big that she finally outgrew her car seat. She had been in it since she was 8 months old.  

This new one can be a 5 point harness, then used with a regular seat belt and then a backless booster. It goes up to 100lbs. We will never have to buy one again. I told Jeremy since we are not having more kids that I was going to get her a bright pink one.  As you can tell she loves it!! She loves that it has a cup holder and cubby to stash toys and snacks.

Whatever Jeremy and I are doing C wants to try. She has recently become obsessed with taking pictures.  She takes pretty good ones. Here are her 2 favorite subjects.

Last Saturday we met up with some friends and went to the Homecoming Parade for ISU. Besides the parades at Disney World, C has never seen one.  It was very long. We stayed for 1 hr and 20 minutes and then left. It was still not done.

I love this picture. Oh and Sparky made her shirt. I thought the crow was similar to Reggie.  C got a ton of candy at the parade. Her bag was so heavy she could not carry it herself.  I was excited that we now have more candy to give out at Halloween.  It seems someone (ME!) has been eating the Halloween stash in our pantry!
