Flossasarus & The Dentist

This morning C had her first checkup at the dentist. We have been talking about the dentist and what will happen there for a few weeks now. I decided not to take her to the pediatric dentist in town, but instead take her to the one I have been seeing. We arrived about 10 minutes before her appointment and she happily raced to the toy area.
She got a pile of books and sat down to read and wait.

Getting settled in the big chair. I think she was a little anxious, though she never cried.

Got her bib on and waiting to get started.

The hygienist was wonderful with her. She talked to her and explained everything she was going to do. Counting those teeth, all 20 of them. She has all her teeth in and won't get more until she is 6.

Rocking the shades while getting her teeth cleaned, tickled.

After the cleaning it was time to meet Flossasarus, a.k.a Flossie. She told C all about how to take care of her teeth. C even got a chance to brush Flossie's big teeth with the big toothbrush.

Dr. Mark checking her teeth. He said they looked beautiful and he saw no signs of plaque or decay. I am praying that she gets lots of her Daddy's genetics for her teeth. Mommy has seen Dr. Mark way too much this year!
Since she was such a good patient, we headed to the store where she got to pick out a coloring book and a princess balloon. I still can not believe how great she did at the dentist. I think she is even a better patient than her Mommy!

Rock A Bye Baby

One evening when Daddy was suppose to be giving C a bath, he called me to "come quick and bring the camera." What can I say but our girl is very creative.

C wanted to Daddy to rock all her "friends" and sing them a lullaby.

Love how she added the orange hippo behind his head. I am very surprised they all fit and no one fell off.

Just Some Pictures

Here are some recent photos of C out and about. One morning we went to a playdate at Lia's house. It was a painting party. Mrs. Kristin let the kids paint everything from an old dollhouse to the trees to her car!

C working hard at her masterpiece. When we got home she kept asking if we could paint our car! Not a chance C, not a chance.

I love how both of them are kneeling just like the other.

The night before we flew out to see Mo Mo, Ian and Baby K we spent the night in Chicago. We went out to eat and C had to stop to ride the bull.

Before we headed to Chicago, we had to drop Jake off at the kennel. C calls it doggie school. As you can tell Jake was super excited to be going to doggie school. C was trying to give him a kiss goodbye. I think his eyes look so funny. He wanted out of the car so bad!!

This Is How We Roll

We have been trying to take advantage of the last few weeks of summer here. C has been spending lots of time rolling around.

Big girl riding her scooter Daddy got her this summer. She has gotten quite good at steering it.
Here she comes.

There she goes.

Taking a ride on a bicycle built for 2.

Aunt Mo Mo and Uncle Ian got this bicycle seat for C for her birthday.

She loves going "super fast" on it, around the lake with daddy.

Hopefully summer will linger a little bit longer.

Loving Aunt Mo Mo

One night earlier this week I was messing around on the computer when Aunt Mo Mo beebed in on my Skype. I answered it and we began to talk. I knew C was still awake in her room, so J went up to get her so she could talk to Mo Mo and Baby K. C loved seeing and talking to them both. But it was late so I didn't let her talk long. She went back up to bed and later that night I checked on her like I always do before i go to bed. I found this on her chair.

This is a photo album that Mo Mo made for C. It has lots of photos of the 2 of them in it. The top photo is from when we all went to Cape Cod the summer of 2009. Mo Mo and Ian are doing yoga in the photo. C is between them doing some as well. The second photo is from Thanksgiving of 2008, when Mo Mo and Ian came to visit us in TN.

I love how C went to her toy box and dug the album out and was looking at it. She really loves her Aunt Mo Mo and can't wait to see her, Uncle Ian and Baby K at Christmas! Yes you read that correctly. The 3 of them are going to make the 12 hour trek to come see us for the holiday!! We can not wait!!

A Short Conversation

At lunch today I asked C some questions about her morning at preschool. They were so cute, I had to write them down. Her answers are verbatim.

What was your favorite thing you did today at school?
My favorite thing was going to the potty.

Did you learn anything?
No, but we still went outside to play.

Did you make a new friend?
Yes we made all different kinds of friends.

Do you like your teachers?
I don't like my teachers, but I like you Mommy.

Do you want to go to school again?
Maybe on Wednesday.

Then she was quiet while she finished her lunch. Right before we got up from the table she blurted out: We get to go to look at the pumpkins with our new friends and you will get to go too Mommy!!

Mommy can't wait!!

The Ice Cream Truck

On Saturday afternoon we actually got C to take a nap. We bribed her with the promise of watching a movie when she woke up. I had to lay down with her, but after 20 minutes she fell asleep. She slept for a little over an hour. When J went to wake her up, she heard the ice cream truck outside. She told Daddy she wanted an ice cream. We all went outside but couldn't hear him or see him anymore. After a few minutes Daddy and C were about to head inside when we heard him again. I flagged him down and C made her choice (with a little help from Mommy).
She got the bubble gum snow cone.

It was a riot to watch her eat it. She is not a fan of ice. But after a few sucks she was hooked.

She only wanted to suck on the red.

Mommy had to help her eat the rest of the colors.
I would say her first treat from the ice cream man was a success. But next time I will encourage her to get ice cream!

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

This is what I found one day while C was suppose to be having quiet time in her room. I think she figures I can't see Mommy, so Mommy can't see me.

She told me , she and all her friends were sleeping and I had to go away and be quiet so I wouldn't wake them up.

One night I went to check on C after she had been in bed for 30 minutes or so. I found her wearing cat ears and reading a book. When I went back up a few hours later, this is what I found. I guess she figured the baby need to wear the ears for a bit.

C loves to read. Lately at night, she has been taking her flashlight and reading books in her bed. I showed her how to prop the flashlight up on her pillows. You would never know from looking, but her room is pitch black except from the light from her flashlight.

I love that our girl loves to read.

Apparently she loves her flashlight too.

Late afternoon cat nap with Daddy.

On our flight out to Washington, she feel asleep while watching a movie. How can that be comfortable?

Preschool Begins

Today was the first official, full day of preschool for C. I had scheduled a dentist appt for me during her school time so I just had to drop her off and rush off. In the car I reviewed with her what her day would be like. I walked her in the building and told her to go sit with her class. She gave me a kiss and then scampered off to sit between 2 boys.

In the pictures she is holding one of her favorite dolls name Emily. Today they were allowed to bring their favorite toy with them for show and tell. I was worried that C would lose Emily b/c she is a doll that goes with her dollhouse and very small. I kept trying to push her to take Dora instead. But she held firm and insisted she wanted Emily. I am happy to say Emily made it back home today.

When i went to pick C up from school, I asked her how her was. She said "we got to play outside today and there was a car you could drive. But i didn't drive, only rode in it. We also had cheese and meatballs for a snack with juice that was orange." I don't think they had meatballs for a snack, but she kept insisting they did! Later while we were eating lunch, she told me she played with the kitchen and the dolls for a little bit. She also said that there were lots of bikes outside to ride, but she and Maryn couldn't ride them because there weren't enough. She has been telling me she had lots of fun at school and wants to go back tomorrow. Too bad she's got to wait until Monday!

I can't believe how big she looks in this picture. I have to accept my little girl is becoming a big girl!

Meet Kenenisa

Last week we traveled out to Washington State to meet Kenenisa, the baby Aunt Mo Mo and Uncle Ian adopted in April. We have talked to C about K for months now. She had seen him on Skype but never met him.

This was their first meeting. C was a little apprehensive about who this baby was.

She started off tickling and kissing his toes.

And eventually warmed up to a hug.

By the next day, they were best buddies. C was wonderful with him. She shared her toys, read books to him, begged us to let him take a bath with her. And of course gave him lots of kisses.

Me and my new nephew.

One morning we checked out a local farmers market. They had live music and we sat down to take a listen. Think Sparky is in paradise with her 2 grandchildren?!

J was taking lots of pictures and C said "take one of me & Kenenisia Daddy. Only me and him!"
I love this photo!! She is so proud to be his big cousin.

K is a very sweet, easy-going baby. He laughs and smiles a lot. While we were there J taught him some funny nosies with his mouth. For the rest of the time whenever K saw J, he would make those sounds. It was really funny and sweet. Aunt Mo Mo got us a professional photographer to take pictures of the whole gang while we were all together. Some of them turned out wonderful. I will post them soon.
We are so happy, excited and thankful that K is finally home with his new mommy and daddy. We are hoping that they will all come visit us for Christmas!! (No pressure guys!)
