Preschool Starts
Today was the start of another preschool year for C. She is in the 4's class and will be going 3 days a week.
I originally had her in the 4 day a week program but something in my gut just didn't feel right. We got on the waiting list for the 3 day program and were on it all summer. Finally last night someone wanted to switch from 3 days to 4 days so we traded. I finally feel at peace with it.
Big girl headed into her school. We are using the same backpack as last year. Last year it looked huge on her and know it looks SO small. I figured there was no point on spending $$ on that this year and then again next year, when she will need a bigger one.
There are 6 kids from her class last year that are in her new class. So we are happy about that. None of her good friends are in it but she will see some familiar faces. And I know my little social butterfly will make new friends in no time.
Her lead teacher Ms. Masten. The assistant teacher is a man, Mr. Tilford. When we got home she asked me "why was that daddy teaching the class"? I had to explain that some teachers are men. But I still don't think she believes me!
Tomorrow will be her 1st full day. We are both so excited!

Jeremy and I celebrated 8 years of marriage on August 16th, 2011!! I thought I would take a walk down memory lane. I could not find any pictures on the computer from the year we met in 2001. But here we are with Frosty in front of our house in 2002. We had gotten engaged just a month earlier.

Happy Birthday Daddy
Today is Jeremy's 35th birthday. When he woke up this morning, C took the gift she got him and helped him open it in bed. C and I had already been up for awhile so she was pretty excited the birthday boy was awake. After she serenaded him, they came downstairs and snuggled on the couch and watched a movie. Jeremy had a boys night out last night so he was very content to just lie on the couch with his girl. I cooked us all a lunch and served everyone in the living room. Both C and Daddy thought that was a treat. Later C had quiet time, Jeremy took a nap, but somehow I ended up giving Jake a bath!! Not sure how I got stuck with that while everyone else was relaxing!?
This afternoon Jeremy and C did the slip n slide while I went out and picked up dinner. We had a low-key dinner, shared a treat from the ice cream man, played some board games and took an evening walk. All around I would say the birthday boy had a fabulous day! Happy Birthday Daddy, you are loved more than you will ever know!!

A Recap Of Our Week
It has been a long week. Jeremy left town on Tuesday and was gone the rest of the week. He texted us when his plane was about to take off. So C and I went outside to look for his plane in the sky. We never did see it though.
We went to a park play date with my MOPS group one morning. The parachute was a big hit with the kids.
So were the Gogurts I brought for all the kids. I froze them the night before so all the kids had a cold, somewhat healthy treat after running around.
Showing me how she can pump. Kind of.
Jeremy's birthday is on Saturday so of course we had to go birthday shopping for him. I took a long time finding just what I needed, so I rewarded this cutie with a ride on the train.
One morning we met some friends at a gymnastics place for open gym. C had a great time running, jumping and playing with her friends. Of course she was so sweaty and chalky when we left that she had to go right into the tub. She requested bubbles.
A bubble goatee.
Night time twins.
Late one afternoon we lost our power. We played outside for a bit hoping it would quickly come back on. It didn't. I decided to take the 3 of us for a walk while I figured out what to do about dinner. Luckily upon our return home the power had come back on. I was able to cook up a yummy dinner at home.
We ended our week with a night time play date at Gina's house. All the boys went to a Beer Fest while the girls and kids went to play at Gina's house. Oh yeah and eat more Gogurts!!
We even got a chocolate milkshake for the drive home!
Even though it was a long week with Daddy gone, we managed to stay busy and even had fun. Good night!!

Thankful on Tuesday
C has blessed me with 2 naps over the last 2 weeks. Once she fell asleep in the car around 12:30 and I was able to transfer her to her bed. She stayed asleep until almost 2:30. She was so confused about what time it was and kept asking what was for breakfast.
The next week she was in quiet time and I went up to check on her because she was being so quiet and she was asleep. She had even tucked herself under the covers. This day I woke her up around 4:30. I thought bedtime would be a nightmare but she was back in bed by 8:30 and asleep by 9:00. I was very thankful on these 2 days for some quiet time for me!

Little Susy Homemaker
Anyone who knows me knows I am not a cook. I don't enjoy it and I am definitely not good at it. But I am really trying to do it more often and become better. For the last few weeks I have started making dinner about 4 times during the work week. The last thing I want is for Jeremy to have to come home after a long work day and then make us dinner. We try to eat fresh foods, no boxed meals or casseroles for us.
I found this recipe for citrus chicken and it sounded heavenly. The chicken was to marinate in lemon juice, lime juice, fresh orange juice, evoo, and onions for a few hours. Then i was suppose to broil it. Well I tweaked some things and it turned out so bad. We ended up grilling them and they took forever and were so dry. Jeremy was such a good husband and ate in anyway. Chandler and I did not.
I don't do a very good job of cleaning as I go. Makes clean up at the end a nightmare!
One evening I made some homemade mac n cheese from a Paula Deen recipe. I also tweaked this a bit and added some fresh garden grown tomatoes on top. This one got 5 out of 5 stars. Everyone gobbled it up.
I made some semi-homemade whoopee pies for a play date. They were a huge hit with moms and kids alike. But they were awfully dangerous with the amount of leftovers I had.
Lastly Jeremy made some flat iron steak and pesto mashed potatoes. They were to die for!! I can not wait to have these again.
I am trying to plan our meals a week out. I HATE going to the grocery store every other day! I also can't stand trying to figure out what to make for dinner every day about 3pm. So I am really trying to make my self tackle the meal planning and preparation more. So if anyone has any fresh, easy meals they want to share, leave me a comment!

When Daddy Bathes Her..
I give C the majority of her baths. With me it is all business. Get her in, wash her hair, wash her body, get her out. Daddy takes another approach.
I was putting laundry away and I kept hearing squeals of delight. I had to go and peek and see what was so much fun.
I am hoping since C had so much fun in her bath tonight that she will request Daddy to bathe her every night!!

A Surprise For Daddy
Jeremy has not been feeling well all day today. Every time C would ask him to play he would tell her no b/c he felt so bad. I tried to keep C and myself busy and out of the house for most of the day. We went to the zoo this morning and after quiet time headed up to the splash pad for a little bit. As we were heading back home C said she wanted to bring a surprise home for Daddy.
She was so proud of the flowers she picked him. It almost made me cry as she has such a big heart. Instead of being mad or sad that her Daddy couldn't play with her at all today, she just wanted to do something nice for him. She sure does make me proud to be her Momma!
