The People You Meet

Our whole family has been very blessed with all the wonderful friends we have made here in Arizona this past year. C is a very lucky girl and has such wonderful, sweet friends.  Of course everyone has their own schedules this summer but we have been trying to see our friends as much as possible.

Because we are not tied to a schedule we have been able to more things. It's always fun to get Golden Spoon on a hot summer night with one of your best friends. It is close to 8pm in this picture and it is still so light.

We got to watch "The Greatest Show On Earth" with our girl scout troop.  It helps that 2 more of our favorite friends are in our troop.

We have taken advantage of some free summer bowling. C did really well. She bowled 3 spares and 1 strike in the 2 games she played. Her score in her 2nd game was 101!

Sierra, C and Sophia. All such sweet girls.

Not a great picture. But we got to read our way to some free roller skating.  C did really well. And after about 10 minutes didn't want the skate-mate and skated on her own. It was Sofia's 1st time. We skated for 2 hours and then hit up Chik Fil A for another hour. I adore Amber and am so happy our girls play so well together.

Our town has a summer movie program. They show 10 movies, 1 every week and the pass only cost $7 total!!  Great deal. We have seen only 1 movie by ourselves. We have been lucky to meet up with friends every other time.

We have been able to borrow friends tickets when they are out of town. So we got to take friends too.

Anna and C being silly.

We took C to Monsters University and let her bring a friend. She chose Anna. I bought them each a kids combo. Which was this whole container filled with popcorn, fruit chews and a slushy.  I have never let C have all that at once before. Anna barely put a dent in hers. This was C's when the movie was over!

Usually the movie theater will sell additional tickets before the show. Just our luck that the one time we took Sierra the movie was all sold out! We had driven 20 minutes and I only tickets for 2 of us.  I wasn't sure what to do. So I just started asking random people entering the show and I was lucky enough that a man had an extra one!! We were so thrilled that we got that ticket that day!

Sometimes after the movie we hit the splash pad. It is nothing special but it sure feels great.

Sofia and C found some empty cups and had a ball filling them and dumping them on their heads. Amber and I also requested they dump them on our legs and feet!

And of course no summer would be complete without plenty of pool time!  We are lucky to have a pool and most of our friends do too. Makes parties and hanging out so much more enjoyable.

This Week Went Fast

We started off this week by seeing a play with our good friends Amber and Sofia.  It was a version of "The Three Little Pigs."

Both Sofia and C were mesmerized that the actors were all children.  They were overjoyed that they got to meet some of the "piggies" after the play.  The girls with Prissy Pig.

With 2 baby pigs. Both of these piggies were in 5th grade. They were great!

Of course we had to stop for frozen yogurt on the way home.

We started another week of camp.  This one was called Masterminds and Masterpieces. It was book based. Each day they read a story and then did activities based on that book.

C was excited that her good friend Sienna was doing the camp with her.

McDonald's play date after camp one day.

C's version tea cup and platter for "Alice In Wonderland" book day.

We got to reuse our 100th day monster shirt for "Where the wild things are" book day.  That is her monster face!

And of course we had to have more frozen yogurt. We sure do love Golden Spoon!

C only has 1 more camp left the last week of July. Hard to believe our summer is half way over.  But we still have some fun stuff ahead.

Boredom Busters

C just finished up a 2 week camp session through our city's parks and recreation dept. The cost was only $50 for the whole 2 weeks. Such a bargain! She went Monday - Thursday 1-5:30.  She had originally had a friend a signed up with her but at the last minute the friend had to go out of town. So she had to go not knowing a single soul.  Here she is on the first day.  Such a confident girl.

We got her hair trimmed that morning and the stylist styled a french braid on her.

They had some fun activities. They had a PE day, circus day that included a field trip to a small circus. They had crazy hair day.

It was so fun to fix her hair all crazy.

They had a contest that day and C won the "craziest hair" for her group (made up of 5, 6, and 7 yr olds.).  Both of us were so proud.

This was from carnival day. They played all sorts of carnival games, won prizes and got faces painted. I was quite surprised when I picked her up as she has NEVER wanted to get her face painted. This was her first time EVER to do so. She is a cat...maybe a tiger. I forget.

I didn't get pictures of the 2nd week activities. But this is what was planned.  She had a wonderful time.  She made a new friend and even got a boyfriend. More on that later...

She has already requested to go back next year but wants a friend to join her. I am so proud that she is not afraid to try new things on her own. Next up is library camp...

Flashback Friday

One of my favorite things to do in the evening is to go back and look at all the old photos and videos of C.  I am amazed at both how much she has changed and how much she has stayed the same.

Here she is almost 2 years old.

Here she is almost 6 years old.

First Days Of Summer

During the first week of summer I watched my friend Angie's daughter Sierra for a few days.  C was so excited that Sierra was coming over in the morning that she slept in her clothes I laid out for her. She told me she wanted to be ready to play when Sierra arrived.

We had a fun time. We went to the park, did lots of swimming and jumping.

Ate lunch pool-side.

One day we met up with Janie and her daughter Emari and friend to see a movie. We went to the dollar theatre.

Both Sierra and C have a summer birthday. So after the movies we headed to Toys R Us to window shop. They had a million things to show me that they "needed" for their birthday!

We got to redeem our golf morning with Mrs. Wienke.

The girls were so excited. They did some putting, learned a bit about the game and had lunch at the golf  club.

Giving them instructions.

We checked out a new community about 20 minutes away. It was their grand opening and there were tons of things to do.  It was so hot. C and Emari jumped right in the splash pad with their clothes on.  I can tell you Amber and I wanted to do the same!

We walked around a bit, checked out a few houses and then enjoyed a Popsicle by the lake.

Amber told me about a great pool one town over. Angie and I checked it out with the Sierra and C one day.

C coming down the slide.

Besides the slides, there was a zero entry splash area and a separate diving pool.

Angie and I.

The best thing it was only $3 total for C and I to get it.  Even though we have our own pool it was fun to check out another one.  The girls had a blast. I see us coming here a lot this summer.

We have a very busy summer. There are camps, vacations, cruises and before you know it school will start again...
